Okay, so I saw Extreme Couponing and some how ended up on thekrazycouponlady.com. I decided to try it and see how if it really works. I bought two Sunday papers and printed up a few coupons online from the sites she recommends. And so it began. The things pictured above I got at CVS and Walgreens.
From Walgreens, I got 2 packages of gloves, 2 pkgs BIC Razors, 4 Hershey bars, 1 Dawn, 1 Lime-a-Way, Lysol, and 1 clearance Easter candy that my daughter persuaded me to buy. Now the breakdown of this one is more complicated because the cashier run it up wrong and upon checking my receipt before leaving the store I recognized the mistake and had them correct it. My receipts are little confusing, but I think that the total before savings would have been $28.88. After sales and coupons, my out of pocket was $13.46. But then I also received $4 in Register Rewards.
So it was $13.46 out of pocket.
But with Register Rewards it's like I paid $9.46.
A savings of 67%
At CVS I purchased the coloring books on clearance (since my kids go through coloring books faster than toilet paper), 4 Power Bars, and 2 Colgate toothpastes. The total, before savings, was $18.00. After sale+coupons I paid $6.44 and received $5.54 in CVS Extrabucks (can be used like cash in next transaction). And I got a promotion to update my email and receive a $4 off coupon on a $20 purchase.
So it was $6.44 out of pocket.
But with the Extrabucks it's like I paid $.90.
That's a 95% savings!
So the answer is, for everything in the picture I paid $10.36!
So the answer is, for everything in the picture I paid $10.36!
I think I'm really starting to like couponing.
