When I found out that I was pregnant with my 3rd girl one of the things that I was excited about was that I got to use my cute car seat cover (and that I didn't have to make a new one in blue). I made this car seat cover and I love it. I cut the pattern myself and chose brocade and the pink polka dot velour to contrast.
One thing that drove me nuts on the original car seat cover that came with the car seat was that the top shade only covered half of the baby. So if I was facing the wrong direction the sun would shine right in the baby's eyes. So I decided to fix that and I used the two plastic pieces from the car seat for the front two sections of the shade and used boning to add a third section of the shade. So now when I pull the shade all the way down it almost completely covers the baby. This eliminates the need to throw another blanket over the top of the cover to fill in the open space in the front. (one less thing to drag around with me.) I am so happy with how this turned out. It was definitely worth staying up so late the night before I had my 2nd to finish it.
